I feel that there are 5 main skills needed to excel as a manager. These skills will also sharpen your emotional intelligence as well. 😉⠀

🌀Learn the art of delegation 🌀⠀
What is delegation exactly? It means knowing where you are most valuable. Leveraging and identifying your best skills, and recognizing where others can step in.⠀

🌀Managing Upward 🌀⠀
Quite simply, “managing up” refers to doing whatever you can to make your boss’s job easier by essentially managing your manager. This is done by: communicating your priority, seeking feedback, anticipating your bosses needs, knowing the right way to discuss problems, and learning how to be a well-rounded source of help.⠀

🌀Project & Time Management 🌀⠀
This is a tough one. Nothing will ruin a project faster than an unnecessary sense of urgency, but you also can’t let things slide. Being able to prioritize when everything feels urgent is one of the key cornerstones of being able to deliver in management. Part of this skill is getting to know your own personal style, and what types of organization tools work for you.⠀

🌀The power of persuasion 🌀⠀
How effective you are at persuasion is on full display as a manager. As a manager you MUST be able to convince people of a larger vision. Negotiation is also a skill that comes with this, but further reading on this subject is recommended! ⠀

🌀Financial Smarts 🌀⠀
A manager should know certain basics, such as understanding balance sheets, income statements, and typical financial ratios. You would also need a good understanding of how your team’s profitability contributions fit into the overall company. ⠀

Mmmm grilled veggies. 🤤⠀

It’s summer, all kinds of veggies are in season, and it is perfect weather for outdoor grilling! Want to make perfectly charred, super flavorful grilled vegetables? ⠀

What you’ll need:⠀
peppers⠀
summer squash⠀
onions⠀
mushrooms⠀
corn ⠀
(These are the best vegetables to grill. Cut into similar-sized pieces and skewered, they all cook at about the same rate!)⠀
⠀
1️⃣ Cut everything to a similar size to ensure even cooking. (Plus you’ll be able to get multiple vegetables into each bite!)⠀
2️⃣ Use metal skewers— Wood skewers burn easily on the grill.⠀
3️⃣ Flip halfway. Obvious, but important. I usually grill ours for about 8 minutes per side.⠀
4️⃣ Season before AND after cooking. To give my grilled vegetables maximum flavor, I season them with olive oil, salt, and pepper before I put them on the grill. Afterwards, I season with salt and pepper to taste and drizzle them with a tasty dressing, sprinkle them with fresh herbs, and serve them with a sauce for dipping.⠀
5️⃣ Don’t skip the sauce. Grilled veggies are good on their own, but a flavorful sauce can take them over the top. My sauce suggestions are pesto, hummus, or chipotle sauce!⠀

Serve them as a side dish at your next cookout, or top them with a yummy sauce and call them dinner! 😍⠀

So after my post on anxiety tips last week, so man

So after my post on anxiety tips last week, so many of you commented and reached out about your anxiety. You aren’t alone— I think anxiety is pretty much to be expected right now. Imagine how weird it would be if we were all perfectly happy during a global pandemic?⠀

Anyways, I would like to share one more major tip I have, which is practicing gratitude. The benefits of gratitude on emotional health are improved self-esteem, physical health, and sleep, and reduced aggression. ⠀

But how do we find gratitude in difficult times like these?⠀
⠀
🌀 Start with the little things— even at our most overwhelmed, we have those little things: our family, our bed, our ability to breathe and walk. Those things are actually huge if you think about it.⠀
⠀ 🌀Focus on what you have— try a little classic mental pivoting! Bummed because you didn’t have time to do a workout? Your body got some much needed rest! Bummed because of your canceled vacation? Think of that money you’ll be saving!⠀

🌀Do one thing every day you enjoy, no matter how tiny— For me, even if I am having a crap day, if I manage to get outdoors and walk my dog (even for 10 minutes!) then the day isn’t wasted. That is how much I enjoy it! ⠀

What are you grateful for?

Who else is learning the importance of routine? 🙌 I’ve been reading a book called “Tiny Habits”. It’s awesome, because once my day is structured and I get my habits down, everything else flows that much better! For me, how I start my day is very influenced by what I eat in the morning. Every morning I drink warm lemon water which promotes hydration, is a great source of Vitamin C, and aids digestion. Then breakfast of course! 🍋 Today’s breakfast is a greens smoothie: spirulina, kale, protein powder, Ripple milk alternative (for those like me not doing dairy), Jack fruit, bee pollen, and a little bit of water. Delish! 😍 I love this smoothie because it is packed full of superfoods! 💥Spirulina is an algae that is high in vitamins A, C, E, and B. 💥Kale is high in Vitamin K and Iron.
💥Jackfruit is high in potassium and many antioxidants.
💥Bee pollen acts as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immune booster due to it’s density in nutrients and flavonoids. It also contains protein! What do you like to put in your smoothies?
